Paisa bolta hai... In case you dont believe it, we blame it on your absence at the show where luxury King JJ Valaya unveiled his latest and luxurious lavish collection titled Paisa that spoke of opulence, magnificence and Indian splendour.
1x1 polls

On Day IV of the ongoing India Fashion Week, the celebrated designer had touched base with many firsts and delighted the fashion-lovers attending his show. The landmarks were many right from the launch of Valaya Base, his ready-to-wear label targeting discerning men and woman who seek regal sophistication, to the inauguration of Valayan Royale, the new currency of the Valaya kingdom whose imprints are there on the garments. There was more to follow, like a celebrity gracing the ramp for Valaya or the designer going back to his first choreographer, for that matter.
Generally regarded as the no celebrity designer whose clothes alone speak for him, Valaya had presented model-actor Rahul Dev on the fashion runway this time.
Ask him the reason and you would get a quick one. Yes, he is a celeb; but he was also my first model. So I wanted to go back 15 years in time and have Rahul walk for me once again, especially for this collection.
Probe the model about the collection and you would meet an impressed soul. The new autumn-winter line came in as a great change, he exclaimed. Valaya is usually associated with Indian attires but this one is a completely different prt line and I simply loved it!

And how did it go for Dev on the ramp? Fantastic! It was good and pure fun. I couldnt hear the music because of the loud clapping and applauds. A good response is important for everybody and we got that, replied the cool model.
The collection itself was a heady cocktail of Indian and Western styles. If the jackets, coats, cigar pants, flowing gowns and chic shirts exuded modernity, the ethnic elements in terms of jewellery came as an exotic contrast. There were Punjabi parandi, mang tika and sparkling glass bangles for the women while the stunning waist bands in antique metal and crystals could adorn both the sexes.
The jewellery is used to bring that Indian touch in the otherwise Western collection and its designed by me only, said Valaya.
Did it mean that we would soon see Valayas magic in accessories as well? Maybe we would venture into bags and shoes. But right now, we have a brand new baby to promote and it will take some time, replied the designer.
In synch with the overall rich appeal of the collection, the colours revolved around vibrant blacks, browns and bright gold, perfectly matched with contrasting shades of cream and off-white and sporting the striking hint of red that added to the splendour of the theme.
If Valaya is the designer, style quotient remains unsurpassable and this collection was no exception. As the designer stated just before the presentation, his clothes were his show-stoppers and the amazing silhouettes paraded on the ramp justified his claim. Model Neha Kapurs bright orange dress filled with frills and the final golden balloon outfit sporting exquisite coin work were just a few of the head-turners created by Valaya. The range was varied as well, featuring bandhgalas, double-breasted jackets, cigar pants, armour sleeves, palazzo bottoms, balloon skirts, wrap styles and lampshade hemlines that simply wowed the connoisseurs.
Once again, accessories were well thought out and made quite a style statement during Valayas show. There were big bags in geometrical shapes and metallic hues like blue, black and white. The jewellery was fascinating enough to command attention. And moving down, you could not stop drooling at the glimpse of those striking stockings, or cone heels, high boots in shining leather and chic open boots.
While Valayas luxe line enthralled all, the huge turn-out of Delhis glitterati spoke eloquently of the shows rocking success. The guest list saw big names like Rathi Vinay Jha, director of FDCI, merchandiser Sunil Sethi, actress Nisha Singh, socialite Poornima Dhawan, ace designer Manish Arora, fashion guru Varun Bahl and, of course, Valayas family to cheer the man who dares to make a difference.
