Deepika Padukone had the most dreamy wedding with her long-time beau, Ranveer Singh in Italy. The couple chose one of the most romantic resorts, Lake Como for the wedding ceremonies and the pictures were just straight out of a fairytale. The couple went for two traditional wedding ceremonies. They first opted for a Konkani-style wedding, where Deepika was seen wearing a red-toned sari and looked like the perfect South Indian bride.
Well, the elegant sari was courtesy, Advaya at House of Angadi (HOA), which is a label designed by K. Radharaman, the Head Designer and CEO of HOA. The sari worn by Deepika was a real zari Kanjivaram brocade drape. It featured the Gandaberunda (two-headed bird) the mythological figure which is representative of the state of Karnataka. The two-headed bird represents prosperity and wisdom, which symbolises material wealth and spiritual wealth.
The second sari worn by Deepika was for her wedding reception held at Bengaluru and no prizes for guessing that this nine-yard wonder also came from the House of Angadi. The golden sari was a tissue brocade, which is a pure kanjivaram. It featured beautiful zari all over, while the pallu comprised intricate zari designs and it was truly one of the most regal-looking saris we have seen ever.
"Deepika’s choice has upheld a long-standing tradition of wearing Kanjivarams for weddings and has shattered many myths that surround the genre as being not suitable for the younger generation. The saris, are in my humble opinion worthy heirlooms worn by a true style icon," Radharaman told The Times of India in a statement.
Both the saris are from the heritage series and are limited-edition pieces. In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, the brand also revealed that Padukones have been their regular customers from a very long time. "They understand what type of collection they can expect from The House of Angadi", he further added.
"As with any South Indian bride, Kanjivaram is the first choice for a true South Indian wedding and hence the genre was pre-decided", the designer also revealed.
