Rajesh Pratap Singh's desert rose rules the ramp at ICW
Rajesh Pratap Singh is an Indian fashion designer known for his innovative designs and contributions to the Indian fashion industry. He is renowned for his craftsmanship and blending traditional Indian textiles with contemporary styles. His designs often incorporate intricate detailing and unique fabric treatments and that's precisely what he put on display at the India Couture Week 2023.
The show Desert Rose, was held in New Delhi and was inspired by great gilded Indian Wedding, the desert and the Indian gulab (rose).
"DESERT ROSE: An incantation. A quixotic crusade. To question, to search, to seek……. maybe find. Rajesh Pratap Singh’s collection is inspired by the great gilded Indian Wedding, the desert and the Indian gulab. Woven, embroidered, printed. An extensive lean on the Poshak in various avatars. Pure, and not mired by popularism," read the collection note.
The ramp witnessed a collection that spoke to the non-conformist, willing to embrace the uncustomary. A play of optics and the use of woven gold, silver, pastels and jewel tones. Custom made jewellery and hand-made footwear with metallic elements accessorised the outfits. There was a beautiful shadow of shapes and glitter with models sashaying down the ramp to the sounds of the Thar.
Also spotted at the show was Varun Dagar, a popular contestant of India's Best Dancer 2, who presented an impressive dance performance.
