Designing a trophy that honours the most accomplished women across various fields was a challenge, says Jewellerydesigner Preeti Jain. Jewellery designer Preeti Jain is on a new high these days. And why not, the designer got the opportunity to design the coveted Femina trophy for the Femina Woman Awards, a show that honours women. Sharing her experience, Preeti said, “It is a matter of great pride for me to have designed the trophy for the recent Femina Woman Awards. The trophy has tangram as the theme, which is an ancient Chinese puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes called tans, which are put together to form shapes. I believe it is very symbolic of today’s women, who have endless qualities and roles to play. Thus, I instantly thought of tangram as the theme. Doing this trophy was a challenge,” Says Preeti. Further explaining the design and the concept, Preeti said, “The base ‘concentric tower’ is first cast in ‘reinforced composite glass (RCG)’ which is then put through the process of precision grinding and polishing. It is then covered on all four sides with ‘black graphite glass’ which has been cut and polished to the precise size of the RCG tower. The tower is then manually embellished with 5200 numbers of jet black swarovski crystals covering the entire graphite glass surface. A final polish is then rendered to give it the perfect sheen.Watch Femina Woman Awards on zOom, April 7.
