At the recently concluded RFW, we spotted the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago Chandradath Singh. Singh had come from Delhi for a show with his wife Anita. Singh was so taken with the Indian designers’ creativity, that he said he plans to organise an exchange of designers between India and Trinidad and Tobago. “I see in Indian designs a colourful array of textile, arts and creations,” he said.
Anita, a graphic and costume designer herself, expressed her desire to participate at one of the Indian fashion weeks. “India is known for Bollywood movies and also for its emerging fashion industry. I also like the way Indian designers keep craftsmanship, the fabrics, embroideries, arts like tie and die intact in their creativity. We must bring fashion elements from Trinidad and Tobago for India to enjoy,” said Anita.
