FDCI presents Measure at Lakme Fashion Week

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) stole the spotlight on the fourth day of Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI with a trailblazing presentation - an international designer initiative “Measure”, that showcased an innovative collection "TOi." at JIO World Convention Centre, Mumbai. Designer Zainab Saidulaeva, who hails from Republic of Dagestan, Russia showcased her cutting-edge collection "TOi" which was a creative exploration inspired by Dagestani wedding traditions.

​The collection


The collection showcased the mosaic of customs, wedding gifts, and historical attire into a contemporary design narrative. The collection's design ethos was expressed through a delicate interplay of layering and rich texture, making Measure a distinctive force in the fashion landscape. The presentation on Day 4 of the event was an exquisite fusion of fashion and art, which added another chapter to this legacy and captured the imagination of fashion aficionados and art lovers alike.

The designer

Zainab, who is a hijab-wearing woman, represents Measure, a label which stands as a cultural phenomenon in the realm of modest fashion, hailing from Dagestan. It seeks harmony between the natural and the man-made, the past and the present, the vital and the spiritual. Some notable milestones of the label include creation of the multi-brand concept store 'Others' and its opening in Moscow, participation in the prestigious Moscow Fashion Week and media coverage many popular global magazines. Her collection at Lakme Fashion Week showcased many women with traditional headgears, giving a beautiful tribute to the Dagestani culture.

Inspired by the rich tapestry of customs and garments from the region's past, the collection explores the beauty of multi-layered outfits in black and various shades of white, using silk in diverse variations. I am excited that everyone joined me on this mesmerizing journey into the heart of Dagestan's cultural heritage, all thanks to the Fashion Design Council of India for this incredible opportunity,” said designer Zainab Saidulaeva.
