'Gudda's recovering well!'
Designer Rohit Bal, the 'enfant terrible' of Indian fashion, after suffering a massive heart attack had to undergo emergency angioplasty late last night. He is now much better, say his doctors.
The first 24 hours are considered crucial after any heart attack, but Gudda, the beloved of many seems to have been responding well to the doctors’ treatment at Medata Medicity, Gurgaon, till the last reports we got.

Updating on Gudda’s progress till now, Dr RR Kasliwal, chairman of clinical cardiology at the hospital, said, “He’s doing well. He’s talking, eating and showing a strong will. With angioplasty having been done in time, followed by other tests, the condition is under control, rather stabilised.”
As for food, “he’s on a strict semi-solid diet and he’s taking it all very well. Though I can’t say anything about the duration of his stay in the hospital, we sure hope to see him getting discharged soon.”
Ask him if Gudda’s lifestyle has any role to play in inviting this heart attack, Dr Kasliwal says, “There could be a variety of reasons. But that’s not our concern right now. How he’s doing clinically right now is what matters. We hope to see him back on his feet soon.”
Meanwhile, at the time Gudda was brought in Medanta, doctors had found that one of Bal’s arteries – the left anterior descending (LAD), was blocked almost 90 per cent. While another artery - the right coronary, was also found to be blocked 100 per cent.
