Kolkatans are usually neither fashion trendsetters nor followers; their thumb rule is comfort. And this was reaffirmed when we scanned the city streets for fashionistas. Almost all of them told us that comfort comes first and what they pick from their wardrobe depends on how hot the city is. Let’s have a look at the fashionable girls who managed to catch our attention.
Priyanka Saha, TeacherStyle mantra: Given the climate of our city, I mostly opt for baggy and comfortable clothes.
Humidity is a big factor and I always pick clothes which suit the weather. I also like floral prints and light colours.
Sreyasha Ghosh, Student
Style mantra: Fashion is a reflection of one’s personality. So, when I’m gloomy, I choose a dress that matches my mood. Though it’s not a conscious decision, it always happens that way
Soumi Mazumder, StudentStyle mantra: Navy blue is not just my favourite colour, it’s also my identity. It rules my wardrobe, though there are also a few black outfits. But yes, I pick only those outfits which I think I can carry well.
Ankita Gupta, StudentStyle mantra: I love bright colours and I believe the dress that catches my eye at a shop is the one meant for me. I don’t follow any set fashion rule. I buy whatever I feel I’ll look good in, be it of any colour or style.
Trishita Ghosal, Postgraduate studentStyle mantra: Fashion is just a projection of your real self. My style or dress depends on whether I’m comfortable or not. Comfort is one thing I can’t compromise with.
Shikha Pande, Law student
Style mantra: I really like layers and since winter is in the offing, layering is all set to be the norm soon. Right now, I’m wearing a tank top and jeans along with an asymmetrical shrug. All have a touch of black because it’s my favourite colour.
Ruchika, Entrepreneur
Style mantra: I don’t think you need to take the extra pressure of being fashionable. You look that if you’re comfortable. So my only concern is comfort.
Koyel Guha, StudentStyle mantra: Fashion is wonderful as long as you can carry yourself well. Be it a pair of jeans, a sari or a hot pant, if one doesn’t carry it off with confidence, fashion loses its beauty.
Pamela Bhutoria, ModelStyle mantra: To me, fashion is being comfortable and unique. And I always wear my own style and never follow trends
