Tabu’s latest monochrome look politely reminds us that black will be always iconic
If you think all-black dressing can be risky, then you’ve surely not met Tabu. When Tabu wears black, everyone takes notes. All-black dressing has been in the fashion cards for years, but with prints, trends, and colours taking over, people have swiftly moved over to experimenting with more colours, which we honestly love.
But black can never be stripped away, and Tabu’s recent look is just the kind of reminder we need. Tabu’s fashion approach is effortless, yet controlled. She never carries excess baggage and keeps this poised, chic, and iconic. The diva wore the Amaris dress by Chorus, which came with a constructed, fitted bodice and flared hemline, shaped through godets.
The silhouette of the ensemble stayed close through the torso region and opened out below with a front slit, which creates movement with every step. The upper bodice included panelled sleeves and a peak collar-shaped detailing, which gave a tailored jacket-like aura. The detailing was concentrated around the shoulders, where the hand-sewn crystal clusters sat neatly against the black base.
The subtle embellishment is visible at close range, which further adds surface variation without spreading across the whole ensemble. Styled by Mohit Rai, Chintan Shah, and Tarang Agarwal, the restrained taste looked presentable and thoughtful, which gave an old-money luxe look. She completed it with a pair of subtle silver drop earrings from Isharya and a simple timepiece.
Tabu kept her hair and makeup minimal and chose to slay with a single colour, i.e., berry-rose. She decorated her lip and eyelids with this same hue and neatly pulled back her hair into a long ponytail, which gave a slight peek of her collar and shoulder line.
This monochrome black finish proves that Tabu doesn’t follow the trends; she simply sets them. In the era when people are moving over from dark monochromes towards neutral picks, she reminds us which shade started the era of monochrome settings and still wins the race with its charismatic effect.
