From those with padded shoulders and structured silhouettes in monochromes to oversized ones in bright tones like fuschia pink, green and red, one can choose from the range of blazers available at high-end stores as well as flea markets. Fashion experts say that all that one should be careful about is choosing the shade and fabric as per the occasion and keeping in mind the summer heat.

‘Go for linen, cotton fabrics in blazers’While choosing a blazer for the winter season is a no-brainer, one should always go for fabrics suitable for layering in the summer season – like cotton and linen. “Unlined blazers work best for summers as they allow you to breathe. Light fabrics like linen, cotton, cotton variants, hemp are the ones you should go for, says stylist Eesha Amiin, adding, “Neutral colours like tan and beige are must-haves. If you’re looking to experiment, you can go for bright colours like pink, green and yellow. Prints like gingham and florals are also popular.”

Lightweight blazers for the win“The summer blazer should be comfortable and lightweight. Choose sorbet shades or go for nude hues. This summer, some bright shades are popular too if you want a bold look. If you’re looking for prints, go for classic nautical stripes or good old gingham checks,” fashion designer Aniket Satam adds.

‘Look for oversized blazers that can go with any outfit’Be it a pair of blue denims and white tee or shirt or even a sari, stylists say blazers are versatile for any outfit. “An oversized blazer can be worn with any outfit – you can go for a blazer set or wear it with denims or a floral dress,” says Khushnaz Turner, lifestyle and fashion influencer.

Designer Shruti Sancheti says that one can take a hint from celeb looks in summer blazers to get inspo for how to style them differently. “I think Deepika aces an oversized blazer look. Also, I remember Vidya Balan wearing a cotton blazer over a cotton sari designed by me, which not just looked different, but is also an example of how to wear a blazer with a sari. It’s a look that is perfect for both casual and formal occasions.”
