Nita Ambani shows unwavering support for India’s artisans by wearing a handcrafted Kosa silk saree

Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, was recently honoured with the “Outstanding Contribution to Brand India” award at a prestigious business leaders event. True to her refined style, Mrs. Ambani graced the occasion in a stunning Indian saree, highlighting her commitment to supporting India’s rich cultural heritage.

For this special occasion, Mrs. Ambani chose a beautiful Kosa silk saree from Swadesh, expertly styled and embellished by renowned designer Manish Malhotra. This exquisite saree was crafted in the Chandrapur-Raigarh cluster of Chhattisgarh, known for its intricate traditional handloom techniques. The saree featured timeless polka motifs, handwoven using the Jala technique by Dewangan artisans from the region, who are celebrated for their precision and skill.

The saree’s fabric combined the luxurious Kosa silk warp with a handspun muga silk weft, while the delicate polka motifs were intricately woven with silk gold zari and muga silk, lending the piece a regal elegance.
