Is Jacqueline Fernandez’s old-Bollywood-style anarkali bringing back the 2000s ethnic charm?
The fashion aesthetics of the mid-2000s revolved around capri pants, micro denim jackets, fitted layering, and sleek belts. On the traditional end, the era of Anarkali kurtis drenched in vibrant shades and decorated with contrasting golden thread embroidery was literally in every girl’s wardrobe.
Sequins or soft pastels hadn't been introduced yet, but the industry was booming with maximalist colours worn by celebrities to fans. As fashion evolved, we left these usual colours and entered a soft-glam phase with different structures, silhouettes, and more.
But once in a while, we spot celebrities who dramatically bring back such trends, taking us back to the good old days. Jacqueline Fernandez recently took that lane, effortlessly wearing a striking anarkali that left us in absolute awe. Bridging the gap between the 2000s maximalist charm and soft modern-day styling, she turned heads with her graceful, ethnic, and poised demeanour.
For an event, Jacqueline chose to slay in a deep fuchsia pink, floor-length anarkali that carried a hint of old-world appeal. The ensemble featured intricate golden detailing around the neckline, which slightly overpowered the silhouette and acted as a statement necklace.
She paired this look with a matching dupatta, neatly completing the traditional show. She kept the focus on her ensemble, opting for minimal accessory charm with a delicate pair of stud earrings and a simple pendant. She styled her hair in a half-updo and leaned towards a mild glam touch.
For her makeup, Jacqueline opted for an illuminating base with defined eyes, complemented by subtle pink eyeshadow that matched her ensemble. Her ensemble was picked from the Ridhi Mehra label and comes with a hefty price of Rs 83,000.
Giving us a taste of the mid-2000s era, Jacqueline indeed took us back in time and showed us how far we have come. From experimenting with different silhouettes and textiles to using an array of embroideries, the traditional Indian fashion industry has introduced multiple aesthetics and contemporary maps that we’re indeed proud of.
