From Ajrakh to royal gold: Kareena Kapoor Khan just nailed the ultimate ‘Begum’ look

Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Begum Core’ look is breaking the internet

Kareena Kapoor once again reminded everyone why she sits right at the top of India’s modern style game. Stepping out for a jewellery brand event on April 11, she served a look that beautifully blended old-world charm with a fresh, contemporary edge.

The ‘begum core’ moment we didn’t know we needed

Dressed in the ‘Philori’ kurta set by Debyani and Co, Kareena leaned into what can only be described as a soft ‘begum core’ vibe - think quiet luxury, rich fabrics, and jewellery that feels like it’s been passed down through generations.

A closer look at the outfit

The outfit itself had a lot going on, but in the best way. Her kurta came in a deep indigo ajrakh print, a traditional hand-block technique with roots in Sindh and Gujarat. What made it stand out was the detailing - a mix of delicate threadwork and zardozi, with bold geometric chevrons in red and ivory framing the neckline. It almost gave the illusion of a structured waistcoat, adding shape without feeling too rigid.

Instead of going the predictable route with straight pants, she switched things up with a heavily detailed poncha salwar. The vertical stripes and intricate embroidery near the hem added volume and gave the whole look a slightly vintage, regal feel.

4/5

Styling that lets the jewellery shine

She paired it with a soft, sheer cream dupatta and kept her hair in a half-up, half-down style - just enough to keep things polished while letting her jewellery take centre stage. And honestly, the jewellery did most of the talking here: chunky gold earrings and stacked bangles that instantly elevated the entire outfit.

5/5

Soft glam done right

Her makeup stayed in that signature Kareena zone - a soft brown smoky eye with kohl, glowing skin, a hint of peach blush, and a nude-brown lip. The tiny red bindi tied it all together, adding just the right touch of tradition.

It’s classic, it’s rooted, but it still feels very now, and that’s exactly what Kareena does best.
