Flashback Friday: Decoding Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding look that paid homage to the Mughal era
Time and again, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding looks have stood as an inspiration for countless brides and grooms. Their ensembles carried an essence of royalty, seamlessly blending timeless heritage with cultural bonds. While much has been said about the impact of Aishwarya’s golden saree, today we turn the spotlight to Abhishek Bachchan’s ensemble and styling, which carried a striking Mughal reference.
Recently, on a talk show, celebrated designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla opened up about the vision and creation of Abhishek’s wedding attire, an outfit they described as one made for the heavens. The duo recounted the meticulous process behind curating his look, leaving fashion lovers in awe.
Walking down memory lane, they revealed that some of the finest jewellery pieces in the country were chosen for Abhishek. One standout was a Mughal tumbler bead necklace, secretly sourced by the designers, adorned with emerald and pearl detailing.
For his sherwani, the Bachchans didn’t stop at just one statement piece. The attire was further elevated with ruby buttons, rare and one-of-a-kind for that era. Sitting beside his Maharani, Abhishek exuded the grandeur of a true Maharaja. The couple carried their outfits with such grace that even the designers felt inspired to raise the bar for their couture creations.
This collaboration, however, was not their first with the Bachchans. Back in 1997, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla had worked with Shweta Bachchan, designing her entire wedding entourage, which showcased their intricate zardozi craftsmanship.
Speaking of all things opulent, Aishwarya and Abhishek’s wedding outfits redefined the trend of royalty in bridal fashion. From the choice of fabrics to the zari finish, every detail screamed perfection. Bathed in hues of gold, silver, ivory, and maroon, the couple embodied a rare glimpse of Bollywood royalty.
In today’s era, where pastel palettes and ivory tones dominate, their looks serve as a nostalgic reminder of the once-iconic golden hues. Aishwarya and Abhishek’s wedding ensembles continue to inspire, urging us to revisit those palettes that carry the magic of heritage and the grandeur of royalty.
