Desi, but make it dominant

Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh didn’t just show up on ‘The Tonight Show’ starring popular American host Jimmy Fallon, but the global music star outdressed the entire room with his outstanding looks. While most guests opt for predictable suits and sophisticated gowns, he made a cultural statement by donning fabric that embodies the essence of Punjabi roots. Neither look screamed for attention but truly commanded it.

When on the couch

For his chat with Jimmy Fallon on his famous couch, he chose a black bandhgala jacket with subtle embellished detailing on the front, a white pipeline touch on the hemlines, and statement black buttons. He paired the outfit with a sleek black pair of trousers. However, his contrasting pink turban added a striking pop of colour; he next finished the look with polished black boots and set the right tone for his global appearance.

Switching to full-on Punjabi gears

Switching gears for his performance, he embraced his Punjabi roots with an unapologetic glam and quickly changed into a traditional black kurta with a matching tehmat. He elevated the piece with a bold bandolier-style accessory, which he neatly draped across his torso, and completed the black turban look with a powerful edge. Looking like a modern-day warrior, he completed the look with a pair of sneakers and took over the stage with his energy.

Not fashion, but a power move

In a space dominated by Western silhouettes, Diljit Dosanjh didn’t just swiftly adapt; he elevated the piece. From his confident persona to his intentional fashion edge, he stood as a quiet rebellion against the predictable fashion attitude, and this is what made him a unique call. Jimmy Fallon didn’t just host a guest, but the show and audience witnessed a masterclass in how to wear your identity like it's the most luxurious thing in your wardrobe.
