The golden statuette had some serious competition on the Oscar night. Naomi Watts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger and Nicole Kidman chose to rock (and shock) the red carpet in shimmery silhouettes. While Renée looked quite like the trophy itself in a golden body-con Carolina Herrera, Catherine’s Zuhair Murad gown had intricate patterns etched on it and made her look like an Egyptian princess.

However, we loved Naomi Watts’ futuristic platinum Giorgio Armani with a risqué cut-out detail on the shoulder.

Oscars’ leading ladies — Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain let the big night’s afterglow light up their get-up as they chose to sport gowns in neutral shades. Best Actress awardee, Jennifer, highlighted her slim shape in strapless a Dior Haute Couture gown. Full marks to fellow nominee Jessica Chastain for adding that colour pop on her pout. She looked ethereal in her
Armani Prive gown.
Argo-ably, the best!
Team Argo, Grant Heslov, Ben Affleck and George Clooney pose with their statuettes. In a trend alert of sorts, all three men chose to sport (scraggly, trimmed and overgrown!) beards! The other bearded trio comprised — Last year’s Best Actor winner (for The Artist) Jean Dujardin, Silver Linings Playbook and Les Miserables stars Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman.
