Worst MET Gala dresses of all time

The fabulous fashion drips with struts on the staircase and pouts on the lips in the city of dreams, capturing the essence of the elite delicacies and experimental stitches. New York might look special in Christmas lights, but the city sure knows how to be bejeweled with rocks and diamonds during the dazzling MET Gala. On the other end, the internet suddenly becomes active to rate the outfits and give the crown to the deserving candidate. While history has seen some of the jaws drop from the transcendental looks, let’s be honest – the fails are much funnier and more memorable. Let’s take a look at some of the worst MET Gala outfits of the celebrities.

But hey, at least they tried.

2/8

Katy Perry

Katy Perry has always been…experimental. The 41-year-old stunned social media in 2019 with her equally viral outfits. Walking down the pink carpet for the theme ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion,’ the singer wore the crystal dress with a giant glass chandelier, topped with a mini version as her headgear. The lights? They were lit up, almost blinding. Just when the shock waves stopped, Perry later changed the outfit to a hamburger. She wore a dress that resembled lettuce and covered herself with a portable giant bean-like burger, with matching shoes. The endless memes continue to surface on the face of the internet once in a while – and the netizens can’t help but share some laughs.

3/8

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has a one-of-a-kind style that one might think twice before replicating. While she gets awarded for her fashion statements, the 45-year-old became an incredible subject of memes. Bringing Halloween early in the year 2021, Kardashian wore an all-black outfit that covered her from head to toe, literally. With a long-sleeved turtle neck bodysuit, gloves, mask, heels, an enormous ponytail, and a long train, the reality star was compared to the Dementors from Harry Potter.

4/8

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra, the Miss World 2000, knows how to make herself visible with her flair and grace, even in a room full of people. Being an incredible inspiration, multiple generations have looked forward to copying her looks – but this once. Affirming that the air of 2019 had a fashion allergic drug, Chopra posed boldly in a vibrant-feathered skirt with a thigh-high slit, tights with embedded diamonds, a vibrant cape, and a silver gown. The overalls were paired with silver eyebrows and lashes, white kohl, maroon lips, and eyeshadow, along with a cage crown and messy hairstyle. Needless to say, the internet spoke for itself – and the trend was continued by the comedians as well.

5/8

Kylie Jenner

Becoming the football bride, Kylie Jenner created a look that forgot to leave a mark on the fashion book, unlike some of her classics. In 2022, the reality star wore a white-tape t-shirt with net sleeves, an intense ruffle skirt, and a backward baseball hat with a wider net veil. Posing like a vexed bride who is hopeful for the wedding, she wore long crystal drop earrings. Jenner has always been the one who created trends and fashion statements since she was a teenager, but the look didn’t receive many hearts or recognition.

6/8

Ashley Park

Venturing out for her first time on the steps of the MET Gala, Ashley Park chose salt-and-pepper feathers. The ‘Emily in Paris’ actress donned a soft pink corset with bows on her off-shoulder sleeves, paired with the entire skirt made out of black and white feathers. Giving a nod to a poultry for the theme of the Gilded Age in 2022, Ashley certainly knocked a shot out of the park by placing diamonds wherever she could – from necklaces, rings, earrings, and more. The actress completed her look with ultra-high golden heels, a snatched ponytail, and glam.

7/8

Miley Cyrus

There was a trend for spiked hair more than a decade ago, and Miley Cyrus surely remembers it. The singer wore a silky nude coloured gown underneath the black fish net for the theme ‘PUNK: Chaos to Couture’ in 2013. Accessorizing the outfit, she spiked her hair in different directions and wore orange-red lipstick, along with bold-sized rings. Bringing the party to New York City, Cyrus posed confidently with her pouts on the red carpet of the MET Gala.

8/8

Sarah Jessica Parker

Channeling the flames, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a simple one-handed off-shoulder long-sleeved black dress. Embellishing the gown, she wore three red corsages that had a long train. What stole the show? The flames on her head as a gear that looked like origami. The headgear was supported by red bubbles and tassels. The look was completed with a one-sided cape and bangles on her hand. Certainly, the quirky look left its imprint on the internet.
