Met Gala 2026: Weirdest red carpet looks that stole the spotlight this year

Celebrity Looks That Took Fashion to Another Level

We all expect the Met Gala to bring out the eccentric side of fashion, right? But the 2026 edition just took things to an entirely different, slightly terrifying level. The theme this year was “Fashion Is Art” (specifically Costume Art), essentially treating the human body as a literal canvas. And boy, did the celebrities take that memo to heart. We aren’t just talking about a few bold prints or dramatic trains here. We’re talking extra limbs, animatronic hands, and full-on anatomical oddities making waves on the famous steps. If you missed the live stream, don't sweat it. Here is a breakdown of the most outrageously surreal looks that completely broke the internet.

Queen Bey’s Crystal Skeleton

Can we talk about Beyoncé? After ditching the Gala for almost a decade, she finally returned. And she didn't just walk the carpet; she completely dominated it. Dressed by Olivier Rousteing, Bey wore a sheer, “naked” gown that was totally covered in dazzling crystals. But here is the kicker—the crystals formed a perfectly anatomically correct skeleton, running right from her collarbone straight down to her ankles. It was spooky, stunning, and exactly the kind of show-stopping moment you expect from her.

The 'Extra Limb' Takeover

Designer Robert Wun clearly had a vision this year, and that vision apparently involved giving everyone more body parts. Blackpink’s Lisa looked absolutely ethereal in a sheer white mermaid gown. But wait, what was holding her matching veil up? Two extra 3D-printed arms. Yep. Scanned directly from Lisa’s own body, these fake hands emerged from her dress, giving her the haunting illusion of having four arms.

Then there was Nichapat Suphap, who served up pure nightmare fuel in the best way possible. She showed up in a black mermaid gown decked out with metallic, animatronic hands resting on her bodice, hips, and calves. The crazy part? The mechanical fingers actually moved and adjusted themselves. Obviously, the clips went instantly viral online. Sabine Getty and Léna Mahfouf also hopped on this trend, wearing sculptural dresses framed by metallic hands clutching their waists.

Sleep Paralysis Demons and Greek Statues

If Nichapat was mildly creepy, Jordan Roth took it all the way to horror-chic. Wearing a slate gray velvet gown, he had a massive, 3D-printed faceless torso protruding from his back. Its hands rested gently on Roth’s face like a literal sleep-paralysis demon. It was as haunting as it was beautiful. Meanwhile, Heidi Klum did what Heidi Klum does best—go completely unrecognizable. She arrived looking exactly like an ancient Greek statue. We’re talking a full-body white apparatus that covered even her eyes and teeth. Commitment, thy name is Heidi.

Six Fingers and Prosthetic Torsos

Katy Perry decided to mess with our heads a bit. She rolled up in a white Stella McCartney gown with a metallic headpiece that looked a lot like a vintage fencing mask. But if you looked closely at her gloves? Six fingers. Just a casual extra digit to mess with the cameras.

And of course, the Kardashians didn't hold back. While Kim and Kendall went literal with the theme, Kylie Jenner really leaned into the body-as-art vibe. She wore a nude corset complete with prosthetic breasts and a belly button, paying a very obvious homage to the Venus de Milo. Oh, and Gwendoline Christie topped off her Giles Deacon creation with a literal anatomical face mask.

So, yeah. The 2026 Met Gala will definitely go down in history. Not for playing it safe, but for turning the red carpet into the most macabre, surreal, and extra-limbed art exhibit we’ve ever seen.
