Styling the skirt outfit with elegance and boldness

In the realm of the iconic fashion industry, with the release of the 2006 office comedy movie, The Devil Wears Prada, both Meryl Streep and Anna Hathaway’s looks were compelling, equally enticing and charming. Streep’s Miranda is known for her blonde bouffant hairstyle, inspired by the elegance of Christine Lagarde and model Carmen Dell'Orefice, she portrayed the role of the lady boss at the Runway. Her style includes sharp suits, luxurious coats tuned in with signature pieces like a white Hermès scarf, all contributing to an image of elite fashion leadership.
Whereas on the other hand, Anna Hathaway as Andy Sachs played the ambitious young journalist who enters the high-stakes world of fashion under Miranda’s mentorship. Both of them presented themselves gracefully in the Runway office environment. Hathaway’s character is quite contrasting with Miranda’s established style; it represents an evolving sense of self and professional transformation.

Two styles, two eras yet one screen

As the age number varies between the two, the way to style up also varies slightly. However, both have their own charismatic look and elegance. Every outfit Streep dons, especially the skirts is a reflection of her icy yet magnetic power in the movie. Miranda’s skirts are not just pieces of clothing but extensions of her formidable presence. They are often tailored, impeccably structured, and sophisticated, balancing classic cuts with bold editorial flair. Her 2025 shoot look as Miranda Priestly came up with a cognac Gabriela Hearst skirt paired with a purple satin blouse and on it was the longline trench coat with caramel block heels, completing her style. This look of hers defines her persona which was two decades back is mostly matched even after two decades later, with much glow and signature character aural look.
In contrast, Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs represents transformation through fashion. Her evolution of styling is marked elegantly over the time. For the sequel, Hathaway embodies a new era of Andy as a fashion executive, sporting sleek skirts that mix vintage and contemporary elements, channeling power with approachability. There’s a switch from ill fitting clothes to chic and stylish looks.

Styling of Streep vs. Hathaway

When it comes to Meryl Streep outside the screen, she choses usually the classical styling outfits and especially in skirts she prefers wearing long, flowing skirts or mid- length pencil skirts which helps her look more polished and elegant. Often, she has been spotted pairing these skirts with blouses or sleek tops that balances formality with comfort.
Anna on the other hand, contrasts her looks with more contemporary styling. Known for her fashion risks and evolving style, Anna Hathaway often turns to structured skirts in bold colors, prints, or innovative textures. From flirty miniskirts to chic midi skirts with modern cuts, Anne’s choices often mix with statement tops with vibrant colors, creating standout looks that feel fresh and relevant.

What does the skirt styling says for Meryl and Anna

If we take a deeper look, Meryl Streep's skirt outfits communicate quiet power with a refined silhouette look. Her fabric choices often include satin, chiffon, and lace, which lend a softness and fluidity to her skirt looks. The difference between Anna and Meryl skirt choices depends on the styling they prefer and the composure they choose as per the age figures as well. However, both of their choices lead the fashion industry.
Anne Hathaway's skirts often play with structure and texture. She experiments with materials like leather, tulle, and brocade, adding depth and dimension to her outfits. Her sheath skirts sometimes feature asymmetrical hemlines or daring slits, while playful A-line skirts accentuate her youthful curves. Through her look, Anna defines modern elegance with fearless looks and innovative cuts.

So, all in a crux both the ladies are epitome of beauty, acting and styling. What differs in their style is their choice as per their taste and expressions. Ultimately, the question of carrying a skirt more elegantly gets answered with the outlook as to who sees it with what intent. Both the celebrities have their own style and independent choice to select a fashion trend and wear it the way they like.
