One perfect photograph sparked a full-blown pop culture crossover, which every fashion enthusiast in the room cheered. The internet couldn’t stop drawing parallels when Bollywood mogul Karan Johar stood alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway during the promotions of their upcoming release, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2.’
Fans quickly crowned him as the desi counterpart of Stanley Tucci, who essayed the role of Nigel in the film series and is known for his suave fashion sense and overall presence. In the picture, Karan Johar wears a black double-breasted suit with chic silver buttons and matches it with straight-fit office pants. But what made the look more appealing was a black stole tied around his neck like a long, classic tie with striking white flowers.

He smiled and giggled alongside Meryl Streep, who wore a stunning dark two-piece pantsuit featuring beautiful golden button detailing and a statement black-and-gold buckle belt. On the other side, actress Anne Hathaway was seen in an off-shoulder rugged blue sweater which came with layers of thread detailing on the main bodice and paired it with a contrasting brown, flared skirt.

Karan Johar felt surreal and absolutely ecstatic about the meetup, as his Instagram caption definitely sounded the same. Sharing the image, he wrote, “This is not a caption. This is a confession. I am singularly obsessed and inspired by the unmatchable brilliance of Meryl Streep. In many ways, she has been my guru in the art of acting & portraying characters across cinema!!

He continued, “I have watched The Devil Wears Prada no less than 47 times. I have quoted it at dinner tables, in edit suites, and in board meetings (no kidding!). So when I tell you that standing next to HER & them today, I felt the ground shift, please believe me. I tried very hard to be calm and composed, but here’s another confession – my knees were rattling! They were both so warm and welcoming. This image is going in my will. Stay tuned; there’s so much more…because I had a chat with the favourites of the season. OH, and one more thing…that’s all.”
For the uninitiated, the film is all set to release in cinemas on May 1, under 20th Century Studios, and stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reviving their roles as the leads of the film, with actress Simone Ashley joining the lot.
