From shopping to sting spree: 20-year-old attacked in Zara’s fitting room by a Scorpion
A Brazilian woman’s shopping experience turned into a horror story at Zara’s Brazil outlet, as she was stung by a scorpion while she was in the dressing room. The yellow wild scorpion allegedly climbed up her leg and stung her inside the trial room, and next, she was sent to the Asa Norte Regional Hospital immediately.
The 20-year-old woman named Alicia Spies was trying on clothes at the ParkShopping in Guara, Brazil. She realised something was crawling up her leg and next felt a sharp pain, followed by instant dizziness. After finding the scorpion, Alicia immediately rang the fire department, and she was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
This incident is sending shockwaves across the internet and has raised the safety concerns of the customers in clean public outings. ParkShopping immediately apologised for the experience online and wrote, "ParkShopping regrets what happened on the premises of one of its stores and informs that the customer was promptly attended to by the store's brigade and taken by ambulance to the hospital." The mall maintains strict pest control protocols and reiterates that the safety and well-being of customers and employees are our priorities."

Not only the shopping complex but also the fast-fashion label Zara responded to the situation and said, "Zara deeply regrets what happened and confirms that it is in direct contact with the customer, providing all necessary assistance."
A spokesperson of the brand said, “We take this case very seriously and are working to ensure that all appropriate preventative measures are taken.” According to Brazil’s Ministry of Health, yellow scorpions are known to be among the most venomous species in South America.

The incidents of scorpion stings have increased by 200,000 compared to last year. While extremely painful, scorpion stings are not considered life-threatening. But the symptoms can include tingling, numbness, swelling, muscle twitching, sweating, a fast heart rate, and drooling.
