Well, rising global tensions among Western countries are all that everyone seems to be talking about these days, with every session, meeting, and even online post creating more headlines than ever. And amidst all the chaos, French President Emmanuel Macron just grabbed attention at the World Economic Forum, held last week. But it wasn’t because of his policy statements.
Instead, it was a pair of aviator sunglasses he wore - carrying a hefty price tag of €659, or roughly Rs 70,000. Macron chose the Henry Jullien Pacif S 01 sunglasses for his high-profile meeting, which was expected to focus on stock markets and diplomatic discussions. Somehow, however, the eyewear stole the spotlight.

And guess what? Sales of this Henry Jullien model have now shot up. The label is reportedly receiving a surge in calls, while shares of its Italian parent company, iVision Tech, rose by around 6%. The French luxury eyewear brand has also seen a dramatic spike in Google Trends searches, with people across the world hunting for the exact same pair.

Social media users, meanwhile, have gone completely gaga over Macron’s look, with his Davos appearance now being compared to Tom Cruise’s Top Gun persona and other iconic Hollywood classics. The meme industry simply can’t stop talking about him, and the internet is now divided. One social media user wrote, “Top Gun or Terminator?”

Top Gun last night… Been there.” One user joked, “So I see that the word ‘TOP GUN’ is trending. Then I see it… Emmanuel Macron in Davos looking like he’s trying out for the next Top Gun movie.”
Interestingly, the company Henry Jullien recently claimed that they had gifted him the pair back in 2024.
