Fashion trends start on the ramp but pick up momentum at filmidos. Here’s a dekko at the fashion fiesta being rolled out on the Cannes red carpet
It has been raining a lot in Cannes this year. But when has fashion succumbed to the treacheries of bad weather? The red carpet at the prestigious film festival spelt spring and sunshine, as the stars at the French Riviera showed partiality towards all things floral, be it a photo-op during the day or an evening premiere.
1x1 polls
While Nicole Kidman’s Armani and Sonam Kapoor’s Dolce and Gabbana bell gowns were quick to make heads turn, TOI takes a closer look at those who chose to sport other trends. And that includes stars who dared to go all guns blazing. After all, what is a red carpet without a couple of daringly quirky looks?
Ahna O’Reilly
She attended the The Art of Elysium’s event by the Cannes harbour in a Georges Hobeika number. An embroidered bodice with Swarovski crystals paired with a floral chiffon skirt made her look positively dreamy. Add to that the wind in her hair!
Milla Jovovich
Milla’s slightly quirky take at florals left us floored. The model/actress hit the premiere of Blood Ties in a Chanel couture gown and accessorized it with a black clutch. Complementing the gown was her supersmoky peepers. Do we hear hoots?
Audrey Tautou
Cannes’ mistress of ceremonies came off as the quintessential girl-next-door, in a strappy frock from the RED Valentino collection. The cute pixie crop, her raspberry lips and nude pumps accentuated her
summery look
Sherlyn Chopra
Having trouble decoding this desi-babe’s look? Rest assured, the entire fashion world is. And that statement necklace with pink stones? Let’s just overlook that
The cookie tray
A dress made of cookie trays? Well, while others raised eyebrows, a guest walked the red carpet in just that. Now isn’t this a true blue out-of-the (cookie)-box design?
Bai Ling
A li’l edgy and a lot oh-wow, Bai Ling hit all the right notes in the skull- printed pants an cropped top. Oversized shoulder pads gelled seamlessly, as did the carelessly rolled bun on top. We SO like!
