Just when the internet thought BLACKPINK’s Jisoo had delivered one of the most iconic fashion moments of her life at her Met Gala debut this year, a fresh controversy has thrown her red carpet appearance back into the spotlight, and not for good reasons.
Her gown for the event was designed by a Belgian fashion designer, who has apparently publicly accused the team of Jisoo of failing to return the loaned clothing on time, which was given for an album photo shoot. Well, the matter is now solved, but the accusations are still fresh in the market.

Belgian designer Benjamin Bortmans, who is the founder of the label Judassime, initially claimed on social media that several outfits from his brand were sent to South Korea for Jisoo’s album cover shoot. However, the pieces have not been returned, and it's already been over six months.
These pieces were ‘important archive items’ from his label, which further sparked tension between the two parties. According to a report in The Straits Times, the designer wrote on his Instagram, “Six months ago, I sent multiple pieces for Jisoo’s album cover project,” Mr Bortmans said in one of the earlier videos that has since been deleted. “Some of them were very important archive pieces and extremely expensive.”
He soon posted a follow-up video the next day of the Met Gala, announcing that the issue had been solved. The designer also tagged the musician’s official account, demanding the return of his outfits, and claimed that he has sent invoices and contracts related to the situation and is in line for legal action.
Well, the issue sort of backfired on him as he started to receive online criticism from people who called him ‘unfair’ for calling out the singer when she’s not directly responsible for the situation. Benjamin was quick enough to clarify with the trolls and wrote online, “I never attacked Jisoo... I put her name in the title of the video to have a response from her team. I used her name because it was a part of the shoot, and her name was everywhere in all the e-mails and documents.”
He added that he harboured no negative feelings towards Jisoo and loves everything she does and what she stands for. Well, Jisoo’s agency has refrained from commenting on this matter, whereas the public is not criticising Bortman’s lack of communication skills. But, in between all this, one thing is for sure: the K-pop singer will surely not forget her debut moment at the Met Gala, followed by such a fashion issue.
