Happy Republic Day 2026: Wishes, Messages, Quotes, Images, Greetings, Facebook & Whatsapp status
How the Republic Day came into being
India will be celebrating its 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2026 which happens to be Thursday. India had achieved her independence from the British colonial rule after a long and tiring independence struggle. Republic Day is celebrated to mark the date on which the Constitution of India came into existence in the year 1950.
The formation of a new constitution replaced the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India, thus making India a republic separate from British Raj.
The constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 and was effective on January 26, 1950. The same date, that is, January 26, was chosen as the Republic Day of India because it was on that date in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was indicated by the Indian National Congress.
The Republic Day celebration is hosted in the national capital of India, New Delhi, at ‘Kartavya Path', before the President of India. During the celebrations, ceremonious parades take place as a tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage.
The Beating Retreat ceremony
The Beating Retreat ceremony is hosted after the Republic Day festivities. It is done on the evening of 29 Januaryby the bands of the three divisions of the Indian military - the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. The ceremony is hosted at the Raisina Hill and an adjacent square, Vijay Chowk in New Delhi.
The President of India is the Chief Guest of the function, and he arrives at the venue escorted by the President's Bodyguard (PBG).
Award distribution
Every year on the eve of Republic Day, the President of India gives Padma Awards to the civilians of India. After Bharat Ratna, Padma Awards are the second highest civilian awards in India. These awards are given in three categories in decreasing order of importance - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

Very sad day for PM Modi as the BBC published the much awaited documentaries to prove and expose PM Modi in Gujarat riots of 2002 better late than with compelling evidence. Apart from the police stopped to intervene in the riots the army Lt General Zameeruddin Shah who was sent to Gujarat to stop the riots also said that there was a willful delay by Narendra Modi in deploying the Army in Gujarat during riots which prolonged the riots and killing of the Muslims and said he has written the "gospel truth", adding that the sequence of events has been recorded in the "war diaries" and also said when the time comes, these diaries will be provided. Surprisingly, both the SIT and the Supreme Court of India wrongly given clean chit to Modi without even seeing the War Diaries of 2002 riots which helped Modi unlawfully by both the SIT and SC. In fact PM Modi supported the BBC documentaries by acquitting his eleven Gujrati friends to win state elections who were convicted in 2002 for rapes and murders of Bilkhis Banu and her family by continued misuse of state machinery and judiciary including the Supreme Court. Furthermore, the HM Amit Shah also openly declared before recent assembly elections in Gujarat that the BJP taught a lesson to the Muslims in 2002 and expect maximum votes from Gujarati Hindus. Narendra Modi forfeited his right to remain Prime Minister of the biggest democracy and must resign immediately and must come forward to clarify all the serious charges and misuse of powers and explain under what what circumstances the police and armies were delayed to stop the massacre as many innocent people killed despite so many request and tele calls to CM Modi in 2002 for help by slain Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, his wife Zakia Jafri and many Muslims of Gulbarg society but were of no use and Muslims were brutally killed by cutting to pieces and burnt by Hindu mobs. The Truth has its own way of coming out and this case against PM Modi can be taken to ICJ through the United Nations, USCIRF, NGOs and legal team of Ms. Bilkhis Banu and by the victims of 2002 riots for justice.Read allPost comment
