Mohini from mythology is considered perfection in the form of a woman and is best known from the popular story of the churning of the ocean, from when the amrit had to be divided. This extensively researched book shows her role in that story and many more, from how she caught the eye of Shiva, to her as a mother to Shastha. We live through many tales with her, all woven together with a plot rather than separate stories.

As enchanting as Mohini is Chandramouli's writing style. The dreamy prose wraps around one like a sari while inspiring to question the points she brings up. The story is told from Mohini's perspective, as she looks back on her experiences and reflects on them. In her narration you find interesting insights on how the patriarchal society that so values a women’s beauty affects one's perception.
