The popular, author, producer, TV show host and actress Tyra Banks wants to add a word she popularised into the dictionary.
Anyone who's watched America's Next Top Model has heard it's host Tyra Banks advise the aspiring models to smize. The made up word melds the words smile and eyes and refers to a way of smiling with your eyes.
She was just explaining the word in an interview with NPR, "There's a secret smize. There's a lot of smizes. But you know what? Guess who will not put smize in the dictionary? Merriam-Webster," she said. "We keep calling the Merriam-Webster people."
She admitted her team and she had been trying to get the word in the dictionary for a while, "We call them. We email them. We show them the cover of The Wall Street Journal," she stated. "We show everything, all this stuff. And they're just like ... 'We've had our eye on smize for a couple of years.' And I'm like, 'You know what? Now you're just hating.'"
Banks has also started an ice cream brand by the name of Smize. It was due to start releasing ice cream next year but it might be preponed.
