Walter K. Andersen and Shridhar D. Damle's RSS: A View to the Inside promises to give the readers a never before seen look into the inner workings of the RSS.

The RSS, or The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, is one of the most authoritative cultural organizations in contemporary India. The RSS, with its affiliates in politics, education and trade, influences majority of decision making in the country.

Andersen and Damle's book will primarily addresses the key concerns regarding the organisation that every conscious Indian has bubbling inside. It will answer why the RSS and its affiliates have expanded so rapidly over the past twenty-five years and tell us how they have evolved in response to India’s new socio-economic milieu. The book will also explore how the rapid growth of the RSS impact the country’s politics and policy.

The authors, in this new explosive book, aim to lift the curtains to show us the inner workings of the sangh.

The book has been backed by deep research and case studies, and seeks to explore the evolution of the organisation into its present form, its relationship with the ruling party, the BJP, their overseas affiliates, etc.

Walter K. Andersen is professor of South Asia Studies, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the SAIS, he served as chief of the US State Department’s South Asia Division in the Office of Analysis for the Near East and South Asia.

Shridhar D. Damle is a freelance journalist and scholar of Indian politics based in the US.
