The British Council Library now has an online library for members to enjoy.
Libraries in India have been shut due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown. This has not been good for their business and for members who were stuck with limited reading material. However the Library announced earlier in the week that they would be going to make five of their libraries exclusively digital.
The physical libraries in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, and Pune will become fully online services.

All the members of the physical libraries will automatically have access to the digital one for the remainder of their membership.
The online library has not just the expected newspapers, magazines, audiobooks, e-books and comics but also podcasts, self-development & training resources, and other recreational content with unlimited access.
The Digital Library is going live in 31 countries, and a mobile app version of the library will be coming to India in the coming months to make it even more accessible.
Going to a library and even reading or working there is an irreplaceable experience but in these hard times, one has to be grateful for what technology can offer.
