The Booker Prize Foundation is the parent organisation of the prestigious Booker and International Booker Prizes. On June 5, the Booker Prize Foundation announced that Mark Damazer has been appointed as the new chair.

Mark Damazer earlier worked with BBC News and St Peter’s College, Oxford. According to a statement by the foundation, Damazer is keen on ensuring that neither prizes declare joint winners. It's noted that the Booker Prize for 2019 was shared by Margaret Atwood for 'The Testaments' and Bernadine Evaristo for 'Girl, Woman, Other' which led to a controversy in the literary world. Commenting about it, he said in the statement, "What you don’t want last year to do is to set a precedent and I think this is a rather crucial point.”

The foundation also revealed that the winner of this year's International Booker will be announced on August 26 digitally. This year's prize has been delayed by three months due to the coronavirus lockdown.
