Journalist, social-commentator and author Shobhaa De is all set to launch her brand new short stories in an ebook format. Titled 'Lockdown Liaisons', the ebook will be released on May 30 and each week a short story will be released for the next month and a half.
Announcing the news, publisher Simon & Schuster India tweeted on May 27, "We are happy to bring to you, in a unique new digital format, weekly installments of short stories for the next month & a half, titled #LOCKDOWNLIAISONS, by the contemporary icon of popular culture who needs no introduction, @DeShobhaa !"
Meanwhile, confirming the news Shobhaa De posted:
In 'Lockdown Liaisons', De "captures the fragile zeitgeist of the pandemic in her own unique way", according to the publisher.
Sharing the idea behind the book, De said in a statement, "There were countless ways to respond to the unprecedented, almost surrealistic global crisis caused by a bat. This was mine."
She further said that these stories helped her seek coherence in the strange times that we live in. "The stories emerged organically as the nation-wide lockdown compelled all of us to look beyond ourselves... our worlds... and seek coherence, often in the most absurd situations and scenarios," De said.
Each story in 'Lockdown Liaisons' by Shobhaa De will be released on Saturdays, starting May 30, 2020.
