There is no doubt about the fact that Stephen King is the “King of Horror”. What his horror books have managed to achieve in terms of scaring the wits out of their readers is commendable. His books and stories have been adapted into movies, television series, miniseries and comic books. As per records, King’s books have sold over 350 million copies worldwide making him one of the most read and liked authors all over the world. His literary oeuvre includes 61 novels, 5 non-fiction books, and approximately 200 short stories.


Even though King is known for his works of horror, his writing talent is not restricted to the particular genre only. He has some non-horror and non-scary books to his name as well that are liked by his fans. The novel centres on a college student who takes up a job at an amusement park where he faces the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of dying child, and dark truths about life. It is a fascinating story about love and loss, about growing up and growing old and about those who don't get to do either because death comes for them before their time.

Even though it maintains a horror style, horror isn’t the dominant theme in ‘The Tommyknockers’. Rather, it is a trip to the realm of science fiction. It revolves around the residents of the Maine town of Haven who gradually fall under the influence of a mysterious object buried in the woods.
