A new web series is being made on the well known American poet Emily Dickinson.
The poet lived in the 1800's and was known to be reclusive and possibly a little melancholy. She grew up caring for her ailing mother with her sister Lavinia and both of them never married. However, she maintained friendships over letters and it is speculated she had a romantic interest in Susan Gilbert, a friend of hers who went on to marry her brother, William. Though she started writing in her teens, she didn't publish much during her lifetime. Most of her work was found by Lavinia after Emily's death.
The new TV series portrays her as a rebellious teen who's determined to have fun and become a great writer, much to the disapproval of her parents. Her dancing moves seem rather modern for a period drama, which makes one question the credibility of content but it is likely to draw poetry and literature lovers anyway.
Jane Krakowski plays Emily's mother and Toby Huss, her father. Anna Baryshnikov plays her sister Lavinia, Ella Hunt plays Sue Gilbert and Emily's part is played by actress and musician Hailee Steinfeld.
The show is due to release later this year.
