Wendell Rodricks is one of the most popular Indian designers whose sudden demise recently shook the world. Throughout his life he was known for his designs and how he supported eco-friendly fashion. He supported the Khadi movement and his clothes were often worn by politicians as well. He was bestowed with a Padma Shri in 2014.

However it's not his clothes or his design work that were highlighted in a new comic called 'The Beginning' but his work for the environment.
Written by Arunabh Kumar and Lianne Taxeira and illustrated by Rajesh Nagulakonda, 'The Beginning' is the first book by a new comic book brand called Indusverse. The story follows a girl in Goa whose life changes abruptly one day when her father’s enemies make her realise she has so much to do with her life.

A lot of relevant issues are highlighted in the book including the importance for environment protection. While researching the book, the writers learnt about Rodricks’ fight towards saving the 200 year old mango trees or 100 year old Chapel in Colvale and they were so inspired that they included him in the comic book. He doesn't need any embellisment, his earnest work towards environmental causes are featured as part of the story and only add to it.

"Wendell sir was extremely happy after hearing the idea of our comic book. He has been fighting for nature and trees apart from various others social causes," Arunabh Kumar said.
