Former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State
Hillary Rodham Clinton's daughter Chelsea Clinton's new children's book will be released later this year. Chelsea's new book is a part of the 'She Persisted' series and it celebrates women athletes.
Chelsea wrote the first book 'She Persisted' in the series way back in 2017. It featured the stories of inspiring girls and women who made a name for themselves through their grit and determination.
The new book in the picture book series is titled 'She Persisted in Sports: American Olympians Who Changed the Game'. It will include sections about prominent women in sports including Venus and Serena Williams, Wilma Rudolph among others. The 32-pages book is illustrated by Alexandra Boiger.
'Throughout history, women have been told that they couldn't achieve their dreams, no matter how hard they tried. Women athletes have faced their own unique set of challenges, across countless sports and levels of play. In this third She Persisted book, Chelsea Clinton introduces readers to women who have excelled in their sports because of their persistence,' reads the book's blurb.
Talking about writing the book, Chelsea said in a statement, according to AP, “With these new books, my hope is to expand what young readers see as possible for themselves, their sisters, classmates, friends and our world... And, I hope that all children — boys and girls alike — will continue to be inspired and empowered by the incredible women whose persistence has helped make our world brighter, more exciting, healthier and more just.”
Chelsea Clinton's 'She Persisted in Sports' is expected to be released in September 2020.
