Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the popular 90's franchise, is returning as a new comic book series.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is best known by its TV show, though it started off as a movie. The whole franchise had a huge fan following and many novels and comics were made for it while the show was running. After the show ended the comic series continued the story envisioning how more seasons would have played out.

They were even titled Season Eight, Nine, and Ten. Besides those, there were some spin-off comics as well.
Now the show is getting reboot and a new comic book series has been announced. All the original comics were published by Dark Horse Comics but now all the licenses for Buffy and all related material is with BOOM! Studios. According to their website they plan to "release new monthly comic book series, limited series, original graphic novels and more that officially expand the rich mythology created in television, novels and beyond".
This comic series is also a reboot, which means it retells the story from the beginning. However, the new series will be set in modern times, not in the 1990s and 2000s. This would probably involve many small changes in the story for teenage experience has changed remarkably since.
“Once you fight your way through all the monsters of the week and threats around every corner, Buffy is about something we’ve all experienced – the awkward, uncomfortable journey of figuring out who we choose to be. Dan Mora captures the spirit of that struggle with the perfect style and attitude for slaying the monsters hiding in the dark…and in the light of day,” said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios.

The new series writer is Jordie Bellaire and the illustrator is Dan Mora. Additionally the comic is coloured by Raúl Angulo and lettered by Ed Dukeshire. The first book of the series released on 9th January and sold so well that it's already gone for reprint. The reprint will have an alternate cover with Willow on it.
“Everyone working on this series is incredibly thrilled by and grateful for the response from retailers and fans to this new beginning for the story of Buffy Summers,” said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. “The faith and support in us is the thing that motivates us to go big or go home on every issue. Believe me when I say you haven’t seen anything yet: the events of issue four alone will have every Scooby talking.”
There will be monthly comics being released and the covers are frequently released beforehand.
