Wedding beauty trends: Bridal mood board, makeup for guests
The season of band, baaja and baraat is around the corner and the celebrations only get bigger and better every year. While Made In Heaven popularised group med-spa sessions for bachelorettes, there is also demand for makeup stations for families and guests at pre-wedding functions and prior consultation to create a mood board for the bride.
Celeb-inspired makeupMakeup artiste Meenakshi Dutt says that brides now take their makeup inspo from celebrity weddings. “Clients now carefully choose their garments and jewellery and want their makeup to stand out. The most common service in makeup is the clean base/foundation. Considering the fact that a lot of women wish to achieve the flawless skin finish popularised by celebs on their weddings, it is integral for the client to understand their own skin type which can require a different style of makeup,” she says.
Personalised pre bridal consultationPre-bridal consultations are no longer limited to just a makeup demo. The National Creative Director (Makeup), Lakme Levers, says, “Personalised prebridal consultations are in demand. It allow brides to feel confident in their skin on their special day. A well-curated mood board defining the functions, outfits, and jewellery, along with a personalised video consultation with a trainer, helps the bride prep for the big day.” Priyanka Pandey, Senior Manager (Content), VLCC Group, adds, “Top-tier services like weight loss, body sculpting and laser hair removal are also in demand.”
Hair and makeup for guestsIn addition to bridal makeup, the most soughtafter service is family makeup, including men’s makeup. “These days, weddings include special makeup stations for both sides of the family. This includes makeup for close relatives, friends and guests. While close family members usually prefer getting their makeup done in a private space, guests often enjoy having a makeup station at destination weddings,” informs the National Creative Director from Lakme. Freelance makeup artiste Sukriti adds, “Sari draping and nail art are often requested at destination weddings.”
