How to make chemical free shampoo to promote hair growth

Why it is important to go herbal when it comes to shampoos

Shampoos are part of our daily essentials and it is important to choose the right product so that we do not pump too many chemicals into our hair. But almost every shampoo available in the market has some percentage of chemicals. So why not make a DIY shampoo which is not just natural but can also help promote hair growth.

Ingredients required

10-12 shells of Soap Nut (Reetha), 4 tbsp Shikakai Powder, 3 tbsp Amla Powder, 1 tbsp Methi Powder, 1/2 cup Rosewater, 1 tsp curry leaf powder, 1 tsp onion powder.

Step 1

Remove the seeds from soapnut shells and crush them. Now boil them in 1 litre water for 15 minutes. Strain and keep the clear liquid.

Mix together all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

Step 3

Now add the powder to the Reetha liquid. Allow it to steep for 2 hours.

Step 4

Add half a cup of rosewater to this liquid.

Step 5

Pour the shampoo in a container. It is ready to use.

Tip one

Since this shampoo is free from artificial soap, it might be a little difficult to remove oil from the scalp while using it. So always wash your hair with warm water first and then use the shampoo.

Shake the bottle thoroughly before use as the powders added in the shampoo tend to settle down.

Gently massage your scalp and work the shampoo through your hair. Leave the shampoo on your hair for a few minutes. Rinse with water thoroughly.
