With only a few essential oils like lemongrass and lavender taking up the limelight in the beauty industry, the benefits of carrot seed oil come as a surprise to many. Extracted through steam distillation from the seeds of the natural carrot plant, its origin can be traced back to France, Egypt, and India.
This essential oil is different from carrot oil, as it is made from crushed carrot roots and then diffused in a carrier oil. However, carrot seed oil is created from cold-pressing carrot seeds and is used to enhance the health of our skin and hair. Brimming with antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, its strong essence revitalises our skin, giving us a toned, firmer, and brighter complexion.

How to make carrot seed oil at home?
Step 1: Extract the essential oil from carrot seeds using the cold pressing or steam distillation method.
Step 2: Wash and peel a fresh carrot and its roots and grate them into small pieces using a food processor or grater.
Step 3: Place the grated carrots in a jar and add the carrier oil with grated carrot pieces and the carrot seed oil. Make sure that the oil covers the carrots.
Step 4: Now, cover this mixture tightly and store it in the dark. Shake the jar before using; that will allow the nutrients to infuse into the oil.
Step 5: Strain the oil through a cheesecloth and remove the carrot pieces. Store the finished oil and apply it to your scalp and strands.
How to use carrot seed oil?
Carrot seed oil should always be diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut, almond, or olive, with a patch test on the skin. From healing skin infections to easing stress and uplifting our skin’s complexion, carrot seed oil is a true cure for all skin woes. Using undiluted carrot seed oil might lead to skin redness, burning sensations, and rashes on the epidermis of your skin.
