Actress Thandie Newton says her secret beauty weapon is turmeric, and adds that the spice is an excellent addition to a moisturiser to help match her skin-tone. “That’s a great trick for all women who find that foundations are too ashy or too pink for their skin. And it’s anti-inflammatory as well. It really is my secret beauty weapon,” admitted the 39-year-old actress recently.
The yellow-ochre powder has several benefits you can include in your beauty regime. Here are some of them:
- It helps reduce pigmentation and even out the skin tone. Try using a little turmeric mixed with lemon juice and apply this pack to the face. Wash this off after a while, for a glow.
- Turmeric is known to reduce acne. Just mix a little
sandalwood powder and water in a bowl and apply this to the face.
- Here’s a great idea for a body scrub. Mix some turmeric with gram flour and water and use it to scrub all over your body before your shower. Doing this regularly will indeed help you get a glowing skin. Ask any bride in India and she will affirm that this is the beauty regimen that they dutifully follow weeks before their wedding to get a spotless skin.
- Turmeric has antiseptic properties and is used for the treatments of minor cuts and burns. If you apply it to a cut or bruise, it reduces swelling.
- It is also said to banish wrinkles. A little turmeric mixed with sugarcane juice and applied on the face is said to help with wrinkle problems.
