Turmeric for skincare-How is it beneficial and how to use it

Turmeric is known for its healing properties and cosmetic benefits. Turmeric gets its benefits because of curcumin present in it. Curcumin is a bio active component that has antioxidant properties. Here are some ways turmeric may benefit your skin and help you get that natural glow.

Glowing skin

Turmeric contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components which are responsible for glow on the skin. Turmeric is also effective in bringing out your skin's natural glow. All you have to do is mix small amounts of greek yoghurt, honey and turmeric together to form a paste. Apply this mixture all over your face and neck and keep it for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off with clean water.

Reduces acne scars

Acne is a common skin problem faced by almost every individual once in their lifetime. Turmeric is one of the miracle spices that can help in reducing acne scars. The antiseptic properties of turmeric stops the bacteria from spreading and reduces redness and blemishes. Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with curd and 1 teaspoon of fullers earth. You can also add few drops of rose water. Apply this mixture all over your face and neck and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. You can apply this mask once a week for effective results.

Reduces dark circles

Turmeric is known for removing dark circles due to its antioxidant properties. Mix 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder with 1 tablespoon curd and two drops of lemon juice. Carefully apply this paste on the dark circles and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off using clean water and pat dry your face.

Fades stretch marks

To reduce the appearance of stretch marks, you need to mix half teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Apply this mixture on the affected areas and let it stay for an hour. Wash it with normal water and apply a moisturiser. Though it cannot entirely erase the stretch marks but can surely reduce the appearance when used regularly.
