SRK’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ abs looked just too perfect

Long before celebrity body transformations became an everyday headline in Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan shocked his fans with razor-sharp abs in the film ‘Om Shanti Om', which eventually became a cinematic point in pop culture history. While the audience thought it was endless workout sessions and discipline stories from SRK, those iconic abs required a bit more help from something that would make them look sensational. Well, it's none other than a little bit of makeup.

But who said so?

Years later, the film’s makeup artist, Namrata Soni, has finally revealed the intense behind-the-scenes process that helped SRK’s physique look almost unreal. Her team applied the oil application to the sculpting finesse technique and reached the point of perfection, which looked absolutely iconic. Well, now the fans are debating whether this is Bollywood brilliance or the industry’s best-kept secret. Let’s know more about the process.

The video proof that made everything real

Namrata shared a video on her social media, which came right from the sets of the song 'Dard-E-Disco', with a caption that stated, 'Some sets stay with you forever. This one? Always will. The brief for Om Shanti Om was simple: Shah Rukh had already put in the work; my job was to make every single one of those abs look perfect on camera. Technical, meticulous, and honestly one of the most magical sets of my life. 26 years in the industry. This experience is a story I’ll never stop relishing.”

Decoding the visuals

The video begins with an old clip of Shah Rukh Khan from the sets of ‘Om Shanti Om', where the actor can be seen asking Namrata to touch up his body with makeup to make his physique look more defined. Namrata further described the process and mentioned, “So, I was doing the prosthetics for Om Shanti Om. I received a call from Farah, saying, 'We are doing this really lovely song where Shah Rukh needs to be fully flaunting his abs and all that.' So, she asked, 'What can we do?'” She also described the technical process of using a highlighter and contour, which emphasised her physique and made things look more happening.

But the base was all Shah Rukh’s dedication and hard work

Well, if you think that it was all makeup that helped him achieve the look, then you’re mistaken. Shah Rukh Khan really worked hard on his abs, and the makeup just gave them a fine and glowing appearance, which would look iconic on camera. She further wrote, “Shah Rukh had already worked really, really hard on his body. And my job was to enhance it—to ensure that those abs looked flawless. It was a very technical process. It involved a lot of shading, contouring, and highlighting in key areas to ensure that every muscle stood out sharply.”

Well, the hard work paid off

Namrata also recalled the moment when the director of the film, Farah Khan, teased her for ‘feeling’ Shah Rukh Khan, followed by appreciating her hard work and vision. She wrote, “All that hard work really came to the forefront. Honestly, it was a lot of fun, but it was also quite embarrassing, because every single time I would touch his abs, Farah would scream over the microphone, 'Stop feeling up Shah Rukh! 'It was truly embarrassing, yet I cherished every single moment of that time in my life, because it was absolutely magical and incredibly fun.”
