Konjac Sponge can make your skin baby soft

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and the same holds true for things that enhance our beauty. The world of beauty is abuzz with weird hacks - from applying snail slime serum to using an boiled egg to apply make-up. But no one can deny that these weird beauty hacks work, most of the times! And, the latest hack to join the bandwagon is an ugly looking sponge which promises to make your skin baby soft.

Called as konjac sponge, the sponge is made from natural vegetable fibre derived from the konjac plant and is used to deep cleanse the face and acts as a natural exfoliator.

Interestingly, the sponge looks very similar to Idli, a type of savoury rice cake originating from South India and enjoyed across the country. But looks can be deceptive and it does have noteworthy effects on the skin if used correctly.

How is the sponge made?

The roots of the konjac plant are dried and coverted into a powder. The powder, is then mixed with calcium hydroxide. After heating the mixture, it's frozen and left to set. The calcium hydroxide helps skin retain its pH balance and hence, it promises a soft and supple skin like never before. For better results, manufacturers add powdered charcoal, green/red/black clay to benefit various skin types.

How to use the sponge?

A konjac sponge feels like a soft tissue when dipped in water and all you need to do is squeeze excess water thereafter and scrub your face with the sponge in circular motion. You can also add a few drops of your favourite face wash if you feel your face need deep exfloiation. Use the sponge on your face for 2-3 minutes and it will not only increase the blood circulation to your face, but also deep cleanse the pores and help you get rid of uneven skin, acne an blackheads.

It's 100 percent natural

The best part, unlike other toxic exfoliators that pollute the environment and skin, konjac is 100 percent natural and boidegradable. that harm the environment, konjac is completely natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable (no harmful plastic microbeads needed!)

When to dispose it off?

You can ideally use a konjac sponge for over four weeks, but you need to disinfect the sponge by dipping it in boiling hot water for a few seconds after using it for two weeks. Once the sponge stops to expand, it's time to replace it with a new one.
