I washed my face with beer for a week and this is what happened

This is what happened when I washed my face with beer

We grew up to our mothers telling us how good milk was for the skin. But, gone are the days when women used to bathe in milk to preserve their beauty, the way Cleopatra did. With milk becoming passé, both as a drink and a beauty treatment, the new generation is swearing by yet another beauty potion – beer! Well, that’s right. The centuries old beverage derived from cereal grains—most commonly malted barley, wheat, maize (corn), and rice is breaking all beauty treatment stereotypes, courtesy people who are going crazy after beer's beauty benefits. To experience the beauty benefits of beer, we tried it on our face for a week and here's an account of the same.

The beer face rinse

Day one began with a beer face rinse. I emptied the contents of a pint of beer into a mug and washed my face with it. After washing my face, I pat my face dry with a clean towel. By the night, my skin seemed softer than usual.

When beer started to work

On day two, I repeated the face rinsing exercise and felt a tingling sensation on my skin, perhaps because of the slight acne. Perhaps, the beer was acting upon my acne.

Acne and beer

One day three, to my surprise, I realised that my acne had reduced incredibly. Well, guess it had everything to do with the anti-bacterial properties present in the beer.

Try mixing lemon and beer

On day four, I mixed juice of one lemon to the beer and washed my face with the potion.

Day five

On day five, the lemon and beer rinse was repeated and I noticed that blocked skin pores had opened up and the dark spots had started to lighten by day six and seven.
7/7

I was surprised

After a week of washing my face with beer, I realised that beer turned out to be a wonderful cleanser for my skin. It also helped my skin get rid of the dead skin cells and increased the elasticity of the skin, thanks to the vitamin B and pantothenic acid present in it.
