The cold weather and dry winds of the winter season are quite harmful to the skin as they strip off its natural oils and make it appear dull and dry. So winters call out for a more promising skincare routine which is inclusive of thick, creamy, and hydrating products.

Skincare tips for protection in winter:

Hydration is a must - Skin hydration is crucial in winter because if the skin is not well hydrated, it becomes very dull and loses its natural shine. Water intake of 2-3 litres is important. Choose the skin care products that have added moisturising agents, namely glycerin, hyaluronic acid, etc.

Products that are gentle on the skin - Whether it is a face cleanser or moisturizing lotion, they should be gentle and non-comedogenic in nature but rich and creamy to infuse hydration into the skin, rather than drying it up. Moisturizers should be deeply nourishing for the skin, and loaded with rich ingredients such as ceramides, shea butter, squalane, etc.

Winter skincare ingredients that are a must - The magical ingredients that need to be added to your skincare include hyaluronic acid for keeping the moisture intact, ceramides for protecting the skin barrier, shea butter for deep nourishment, glycerin for locking in moisture and aloe vera for calming the skin.


Sunscreen is a must - Sunscreen application is a must for 365 days a year to prevent signs of premature aging. It keeps the skin protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun which can even penetrate through the clouds.

Focus on lips and hands too - Not alone skin, but your lips and hands need hydration too in winter, and use a lip balm loaded with lanolin or beeswax or a rich and hydrating hand cream. Apply a hand cream every time you wash your hands.
