Basil or sabja seeds are primarily used in desserts and beverages. These small black seeds offer more than just a flavour, as they are no less than a superfood and can easily compete with flax seeds and chia seeds. Sabja, aka basil seeds, are extracted from the sweet basil and can easily be incorporated into your haircare regimen. Let’s see how.

How basil seeds work with hairBasil seeds are usually rich in iron and magnesium, which improve our scalp circulation, increasing oxygen supply to hair follicles. Improved circulation provides more oxygen and nutrients to our hair roots, which results in faster and stronger hair growth. It also reduces inflammation and oxidative stress and protects our scalp from UV radiation, stress, and pollution. This calms the scalp, relieving irritation and itching, and prevents ageing and hair thinning as well.
Why does it stand out?The nutrients in basil seeds come with a dense and holistic approach that nourishes the scalp and strands from the inside. It treats the underlying causes and the surface-level issues with its powerhouse of nutrients, which has absolutely no side effects. Brimming with hydration and scalp health from the inside, basil seeds are low-cost, easily accessible, and have benefits beyond hair growth as well.
How to use?Method 1: Rinse your hair with basil water, which cleanses your scalp without stripping the natural oils. Massage it into the scalp in soft and circular strokes and allow it to sit for 2 minutes. Rinse off with cool water and seal the cuticles, which will give you an instant gloss as well.

Method 2: Create basil serum with its extract by simply boiling the seeds with water. Rinse it off and then apply this to a clean and damp scalp. Gently massage it with your hands or a scalp brush, and leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.
Method 3: For a hydrating and strengthening effect, add some basil seed with coconut oil and aloe vera. Apply this paste for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. You can also add some apple cider vinegar to get a natural shine.
Try to be consistent with this process and carry out the methods twice a week. You will see notable results in 5 to 10 weeks.
