The messed-up look is the new rage and so are braidsForget stick-straight hair or perfect curls. The messed-up look is the new rage and so are braids. Hairstylists predict the new style to hit India soon. Hollywood’s Uma Thurman, Minka Kelly and Jennifer Hudson were all spotted with the messed-up look with one-sided braids recently. It is not the usual tight braid that we are talking about.
The messed up braid begins at the neck level and continues down to the tip.
“Long hair is certainly in and so are the bed-head, fly away messed up look,” says hairstylist Shwetha Kunchan. “The braids work well on long hair and they don’t require much styling either. Even a messy pony tail will look chic,” she says. Shwetha is quick to add that really short hair is also trendy. But only a few can carry off this style well.
The ‘braided look’ is perfect for hair that is dirty! So if you have no time to wash and style your hair before going to work you can still spot a stylish look by braiding your messy hair.
Cues on huesThe colour of your hair depends on your complexion. “For the Indian skin tone shades of brown and reds are the best choice as they give a boost to your complexion. Indian skin tones need a different approach and we cannot ape the west blindly,” says Shwetha. The wrong hair colour can make you look older and even unhealthy. So it is always best to take advice from a qualified hairstylist before you change your hair colour.
Fringe benefitsInstead of straightening or smoothening the entire hair many youngsters are retaining their natural curls these days. Many are also sporting fringes after smoothening them. “This gives them a neat and chic look and makes the hair more manageable. “The longer the fringes the more stylish they are. This style is the best to cover a high forehead,” says Shwetha.
So look fabulous with the right hairstyle this season!
