Being a woman

... is it about confidence, inner strength or happiness? What makes a woman complete? TOI finds out if women need to shed their soft image!
Being a woman
I am constantly asked about my status in the larger scheme of things as an Indian woman.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on her confidence
. However, I genuinely believe that womanhood is universal. I would say my biggest inspiration and deepest understanding of a woman has been my mother. Shes the epitome of femininity. Shes always been amazing without announcing it, and that is what makes her a very special woman.
1x1 polls
I think a woman is an absolute embodiment of the concept of unconditional love. Shes giving it starts from the most obvious, motherhood.
In fact, it starts even earlier, with the manifestation of being a daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, before eventually being a mother. Its actually a complete progression. Im proud of being a woman. It feels wonderful. I think whats also wonderful is the fact that a woman can relate to people on a human level. In todays day and age I think we are humanists, as opposed to feminists. What you give out is what comes back to you. A large proportion of women are seen in the professional line today.
Be it business, medicine or the IT industry, we have conquered it all. At the same time, there are men today who share the responsibility of raising the family. If women regard certain things only their domain, then limitations set in. The confidence, strength and position attributed to me is fully credited to my parents. I grew up in a household with an older brother. Yet, there was no difference in our upbringing.
We were just brought up as two children and thats the reason behind my confidence to be able to approach life as a human being rather than being defensive and thereby questioning every experience of life, whether I was met out as a woman.

Preity Zinta talks on her inner strength
She can be strong and opinioned, yet can be easily moved to tears. Socially committed, she stands up for causes without batting an eyelid. She slips into a sexy dress and a crisp business suit with equal lan. Thats Preity Zinta, with her myriad traits and, a dimpled smile that sets her apart from the rest.
Sniffling, she warns her cold can be infectious but its more the spring in her step and the cheerful, Life is wonderful. I did not want people to think I am just some glamourous air head. She has never shied away from hard work so it was full steam ahead for Preity. But it was not as if I was the beast of burden, I really enjoyed it all.
Shedding her star image and unlearning that she was a heroine was the first step. I learnt to take a back seat. I had to tell myself, Keep quiet its not your zone. However, she made it a point to bond with her team, I flew economy if they did; I stayed in the same hotels as them. I woke up early if they did. I love my team, we are all like a big family, she announces cheerfully with the promise of a brighter future. I prayed a lot but losing two matches taught me that having a team does not mean that it is invincible. Next year we will come back stronger. T
Thats what PZ is all about positive thinking.
The new job taught her a lot about herself. I looked for support but eventually I realised that I can do it on my own, which boosted my inherent self confidence. As long as my hands and legs are fine and I am physically fit, there is nothing in this world I cannot do if I apply my mind to it.
The self-made Preity insists that she has worked for everything she has today. One cannot help but admire her strength. But wait a minute, lets not confuse this asset with a lack of sensitivity. Preity hurts easily, I am not all that strong. I am very sensitive. There are many times when I am really down. What makes her special is her ability to bounce back with a smile. I can think big and I have big dreams.
