It’s always fun to get a little shine on your face, for a light and bright look. But there are dos and don’ts to follow so that you don’t look like you’re heading to a party every time you sport the look. Pay heed to these rules to sport shimmer make-up at the workplace, to a cocktail party and during a day out around town, so that you don’t overdose on the glitter.
Around town
The idea is to look fresh and vibrant, versus a shimmer fairy as this is a daytime look in a casual setting. A single line of blue shimmer eye pencil (or green/ grey) to match your denims or dress, should suffice. Finish with a sparkly lip gloss.


At the workplace

This scenario screams, ‘go easy’, so do just that. Opt for a simple touch of shine with a black metallic eyeliner for corporate glam. Dust the cheekbones with a light brush of rose shimmer and you’re set!
The cocktail soiree You need to up the ‘highlighter’ game here, so use dust powder on the cheekbones after you use your blush. To add to the look, wear thin gold hoop earrings and a bracelet. Do not use heavy body glitter and keep it elegant. To intensify the eyes, use mixed tones of grey-black or back-bronze at the corners of the eye. Keep your lip colour neutral. Shimmery eyes and face does not go well with blood-red lips. Fawn and peach shades work better.


Party at night

Shine on! Here’s where you can pull off that high shimmer look, sans any qualms. Dust the shoulders with body shimmer powder to highlight the off-shoulder dress or halter you’re wearing. Use glitter polish and a clutch to match. Works perfectly with a black sequined top and a half hair top knot. For more of a glitter bomb look, wear your lips in sparkled duo-tones, which is quite a trend of late. Another trend is to line shiny stones around the eyes using lash glue.
