5 things to do 5 days before Karwa Chauth for that ultimate bridal glow

Get that glow on Karwa Chauth 2025

Karwa Chauth, a day steeped in love, tradition, and feminine grace, falls on 10th October this year, and whether you’re a new bride, celebrating your nth one, or simply observing it in your own meaningful way, there’s no denying it holds a special place in the festive season.

Now, if you're reading this around October 5th, you’ve got just the right window, 5 days to prep not just your outfit or mehendi design, but your skin, hair, and inner calm. After all, a true glow doesn't come from highlighter alone — it begins from within (and with a little bit of planning).

Here’s your Karwa Chauth glow-up guide, made to be easy, realistic, and rooted in both beauty and self-care, just how we like it.

2/7

Start your glow with hydration

Before you think of facials or face packs, focus on hydration, both internal and external. That festive glow needs water and lots of it. Aim for 8–10 glasses daily, or infuse your water with lemon, mint, or rose petals if plain water feels boring. Bonus: It helps flush out toxins and bloating, especially helpful before a fasting day.

On the outside, switch to a hydrating skincare routine. Use a gentle face wash, a good hyaluronic acid serum, and a light moisturiser that locks it in. Even if you have oily or combination skin, hydration is still key.

Quick fix: Keep a rose water mist on your work desk or vanity. A quick spritz every few hours can wake up your skin instantly.

3/7

Exfoliate but gently

With only a few days to go, exfoliation is your best friend but only if done gently. Sloughing off dead skin reveals your real radiance underneath. You can opt for a mild AHA-based toner (if you’re used to chemical exfoliation), or go old-school with a homemade besan + haldi + milk scrub.

Do this twice before Karwa Chauth - maybe on Day 1 (Oct 6 and Day 4 (Oct 9) This way, your skin has time to breathe, glow, and recover naturally.

Remember, don’t overdo it. No harsh scrubbing or aggressive tools, we are enhancing, not attacking.

4/7

Get a facial or DIY a 3-day at-home routine

If you’re heading to the salon for a facial, do it by Day 2 or 3 (Oct 6–7). This gives your skin enough time to settle. Go for something soothing and hydrating (think oxygen facials or gold-infused ones) - avoid anything too invasive or peeling-based.

If you’re staying in, build your own at-home glow ritual:

Day 1 (Oct 6: Exfoliate and apply a clay or multani mitti mask to detox.

Day 2 (Oct 7: Use a sheet mask or make a soothing DIY one with aloe vera and honey.

Day 3 (Oct 8: Give yourself a facial massage with a nourishing oil or use a jade roller. Focus on lifting, relaxing strokes.

Your skin will feel plump, fresh, and so much more alive - ready for the Karwa Chauth glow.

5/7

Don’t forget your hair

Amidst all the skincare prep, don’t let your hair be an afterthought. A good oil massage is not only grounding and relaxing, but it also gives your hair that shiny, healthy finish we all crave during festive season.

Warm some coconut or amla oil, add in a few drops of rosemary or lavender essential oil, and massage your scalp slowly for 10–15 minutes. Leave it overnight (or at least a few hours), then shampoo as usual.

Do this on Oct 6 or 7 so your hair is freshly washed and glossy by Oct 9 or Karwa Chauth morning.

Pro tip: Use a silk pillowcase after washing to keep your hair frizz-free and styled for longer.

6/7

Prioritise rest, rituals, and little moments of self-love

This may be the most underrated but possibly the most important, tip. No amount of skincare can fake a rested face. So start winding down a little earlier each night, especially in the 2–3 days before Karwa Chauth. Let your body and mind prepare gently, especially if you're fasting.

Also, treat your pre-festive beauty prep like a ritual. Light a candle, play soft music, journal for 10 minutes, or simply do your nighttime skincare with intention. You deserve that moment.

You’ll be surprised how a well-rested, calm mindset can make your skin glow more than any serum.

7/7

It’s about you first

Whether Karwa Chauth is a spiritual practice, a romantic gesture, or a blend of both, your glow should begin with you. Five days is all it takes to feel your most confident, radiant self. So go ahead, sip that infused water, apply that turmeric mask, give yourself a hair massage, and get your beauty sleep.

Because this year, your glow won't just be visible, it will be felt.
